The Stages Of Hair Transplantation

Hair Transplantation is basically the transfer of the hairs to the bald areas. It is a microsurgical surgery that has to be done in an Hospital enviroment. Since the operation is performed under local anesthesia the patient can easily go back to his daily life after the operation .

Hair Transplantation has 3 main stages;

At first by considering the needs , hair type , face anathomy , age and baldness of the patient a hair line is drawn by the surgent (which is the most natural one for the patient) For the patients comfort for the process , pain-free local anesthesia is used. Before giving the details of the stages it is beneficial to know the meaning of “graft” . Graft means the roots that is taken from the “donor area“ with it’s own tissue. There are 1-4 roots in one graft.

1st Stage: (Collecting the Grafts)

The number of grafts that need to be collected is determined according to the needs, and it is collected with great care from the area coded not to fall ,from the donor area, which is between the two ears back of the head.

2nd Stage: (Channel Openning)

It can be called as the new homes for the new grafts . Thanks to the developing technologies it can be opened by sapphire slids , lateral slids and with the help of robotic technologies for the most natural result. The method is choosen according to the needs of the patient.The fact that the channels open too big causes the fall of the grafts , if they are opened too small than it has to be , this also causes the grafts lack of nutrition.
The bald areas has their own unique angles and directions . For this reason the channels that opened in the Vertex Area (the top part of the head) ara different than the front parts.The fact that the opened channels are in the same number, same size and right angles with the grafts collected is directly related with the success of the operation.

3rd Stage: (Plantation Part )

The stage of the planting of the hairs to their new “homes” .Even if it is thought that the most important part of the operation is “channel openning” it has to be thought in general.Collecting and planting part is also as important as the channel opening and collecting part. Even if the grafts are taken successfully and the channels are opened great care , it can still be ruined by wrong planting. Planning of planting the collected grafts is important for a natural look , after seperating the grafts as 1,2,3,4 rooted ones , planting them to the needy areas can give a total natural look.

Hair Transplantation After Care

Depending on the procedure , the transplanted hairs can fall in 2-3 weeks ,this is something that we expect. This process is called “physiological” hair loss ,since the planted hairs are healthy and strong these will grow during 12-14 weeks , 1-1.5 cm during a month. The planted hairs starts to grow around 3-4 months. The planted hairs starts to grow after 3-4 months. The growing process goes on 12-18 months.Because of the slower blood circulation it takes 18 months for the top and 12 months for the front. The Hair Loss process goes on for life , but the transplanted hairs will never fall because of the special DHD hormones.

After Care

• The first washing is done after 2 days from the operation (48 Hours)

• Swelling is expected during this area , it can last for 2-5 days.The patient can apply ice to the forehead area and has to consume 2-3 liters of water.

• After the surgery ice application for 10 minutes every hour is necessary for the following 3 days (to the non-transplanted areas) to the forehead.

• After the surgery you should sleep on your back with two pillows. (Flight pillows are recommended )

• You can use painkillers after the surgery (if needed)

• You can start using special Hair Products according to your Surgent’s advice to protect your existing hairs and to rapid of the hair growth.

• Since there will be insensibility on the transplanted area you should be carefull while getting in and out of the car ,getting dressed and lying down.

• If you feel itching , you can use a lotion to get rid of it after the last washing.

• You can start mild physical activities after the surgery as walking.

• After the operation please avoid direct sunlight , sauna and Turkish Bath for 3 months

• Avoid Solarium after the following 3 months of the operation.

• Swimming in pool is not recommended after the first month from the operation

• Heavy activities is not recommended for a month.
